ABOUT MOSAICS Tile has been used for thousands of years to decorate walls and floors. Modern materials and methods now make it possible for anyone to transform a simple table, sidewalk, wall, fireplace, or garden accessory into durable, colorful and charming work of art. The inherent beauty, affordability, diversity and durability of mosaics lends itself to all styles of decor.

3 Night Class - Wednesday January 25th, Feb 1st & Feb. 8th 6pm - 8:30pm
2 Day Class Saturday Mar. 24th 10:30am - 4:30pm and Mar. 31st 10:30am - 1pm
Learn basic tile setting and grouting techniques. Become familiar with different types of tile, glazes, adhesives, grouts and additives. You will leave with your very own finished Mosaic. No art or mosaic experience necessary. All materials will be supplied. Tuition is $145. Please indicate if you want to work on a FLOWER POT or a TRAY.

Groupon Class - Basic Mosaics Class with Tile One On Mosaics
(value $110) at Crossroads Art Center 4 - hour class
Will be making a 6x6 mosaic to bring home. Learn basic tile setting and grouting techniques. Become familiar with different types of tile, glazes, adhesives, grouts and additives. You will leave with your very own finished Mosaic. No art or mosaic experience necessary. Materials are provided, but participants may scour local sidewalks, their homes, or unsuspecting neighbors' homes for funky samples to supplement the library of tile and stained glass.

Groupon Class - Groupon Mosaic Stepping Stones with Tile One On Mosaics
You will make a fabulous mosaic stepping stone for your home or garden. We will cover the basics of mixing and pouring concrete. You will also learn how to use found objects and tile pieces to make a fun mosaic pattern on the surface of your stepping stone.

All tools and materials are supplied but you can personalize your piece by bringing in Found Objects. What are found objects? Anything you want them to be minus paper. --- Shells, figurines, bottle tops, sea glass, toys, marbles, china, scrabble pieces, rocks and more ---
Use your imagination! What do you have in the junk drawer?

LIVING SOCIAL CLASSES

Mosaic Plaque Class Learn basic tile setting in mastic adhesive. You will leave with your very own finished 7x7 Mosaic Plaque. No art or mosaic experience necessary. All materials will be supplied. ABOUT JENNI THE INSTRUCTOR

Jenni Kirby is a native of Smyth County, Virginia. She is a graduate of Marion Senior High School and has a degree in Business Management from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA.

Jenni is a mosaic artist and teaches classes as well as sells art in that medium. She started taking mosaic classes in 1997 in Orlando Florida where she studied under Michelle P. After moving to Richmond in 1999, she started teaching out of her Studio in Shockoe Bottom Art Center, as well as at The Virginia Museum of Fine Art, The Visual Art Center, John Tyler Community Collage, J. Sergeant Community Collage and University of Richmond.

Jenni believes that there is something so intriguing, so "contagious" about mosaics that she keeps doing more and more and more... and learning more and more and more. She finds it impossible to be bored with mosaics. Jenni finds it to be relaxing, therapeutic, functional and fun! Anyone can do it!

In 2002, Jenni and fellow artist James Bassfield (Retired) opened the Crossroads Art Center in Richmond, VA. Over the years, the art center has grown to 19,000 square feet and over 225 artists. The Art Center has the broadest selection of art in the Central Virginia Area. With the help of her great staff, she is keeping an already successful business running smoothly.
